The New England Marine Difference
With four vessels of its own and dozens of strategic partnerships with commercial fishermen and seafood processors and distributors, New England Marine’s team of fishermen and logistics experts work closely with our customers to provide them precisely what they want, when they want it. Call it harvesting to order.
New England Marine was established in 2010 by John Lees, who in 1986 founded Mar-Lees Seafood, which grew to become the premier scallop distributor in the US, specializing in building fresh, frozen, and value-added seafood brands.
Because we know the fishing grounds off New England better than anyone and have built strategic relationships with buyers seeking top value, New England Marine can harvest and deliver a product that is tailored to our individual customers’ needs — whether 10-20 Mid-Atlantic scallops or U-12 scallops from Georges Bank. And because of our decades of experience in the industry, we are able to identify excess capacity in the processing system to help keep our clients’ costs down.
Our team meets each of our fishing boats when they return to the historic Port of New Bedford, the nation’s leading commercial fishing port, to ensure a customized catch gets to our clients while it is at its freshest and most delicious.
That’s the future of seafood, and that’s the New England Marine difference.
Meet our people, whose decades of experience on the water and with the Northeast’s leading seafood processors and distributors have revolutionized the scallop industry and brought the highest-quality seafood to seafood lovers everywhere.
